Using Instagram Stories to boost your brand

If you haven’t jumped on Instagram Stories yet, you’ve been missing out on some huge marketing opportunities! Don’t be fooled, those mere 15 seconds on an Instagram Story can be powerful. Not only does it have the ability to reach more people, but it also allows you to build a genuine relationship with your followers by giving them a ‘behind the scenes’ look into your brand. 

If you’re serious about growing your brand’s following and engagement on Instagram, including stories within your social strategy can do wonders. 

Aren’t quite sure how to incorporate Instagram Stories into your strategy? Take note of some of our favourite ideas. 

1. Give your audience a look behind your brand

One of the things that has made Instagram Stories so popular is its ability to give people a look behind their favourite brands and celebrities. Think of stories as an ‘invitation’ for your followers to get to know your brand. You’ll be able to connect with them on a more personal level by giving them some insights behind what your brand is all about. It could be showcasing your work events, what you do on a daily basis, or an insight into the people that work for the company. Giving your followers an ‘inside look’ allows them to feel more connected with your brand. 

2. Engage with your followers through questions and polls

The best way to get your followers to engage with your stories is through questions, polls and swipe meters. It boosts interactivity by pulling them into the conversation, and makes them feel like their opinions are valued. It’s a great and easy way to understand what your followers are thinking. You can ask them anything from the type of content they’d like to see more of, to their opinions on trending news. 

4. Go Live

Facebook isn’t the only platform that’s taking advantage of the ‘Go Live’ feature. Instagram Live’s have been on the come up, and are now being used more and more everyday. How you want to go ‘live’ is completely up to you - whether it’s to showcase new products, to engage in discussions and Q&A’s, or simply give your followers a look behind the brand. Your followers will get a notification when you go live, so they can jump in as soon as you start, allowing you to connect with them in real time. 

5. Find cool and relevant things to post, every day.

The key to Instagram Stories is to be consistent. Putting up an Instagram Story pushes your brand to the front of the Instagram feed,  putting you at the forefront of your followers’ minds. If you stay consistent with your stories (of course, you won’t want to overdo it, 20 stories a day may be a little over the top..) your followers are more likely to engage with your brand because they are familiar with you. 

6. Link stories to other content

Got a new blog or video up on your website? Instagram stories is an effective way to share your content with your followers. The ‘swipe up’ feature allows you to direct people to your website, driving more traffic and engagement with your content. This feature is only available for accounts that have 10,000 or more followers. However, if you haven’t hit that many followers yet, you can still drive traffic to your content by updating the ‘link in bio’ section of your profile. 

With some of these ideas buzzing through your head, it’s time to start putting them into action! It’s not as hard as you may think. The beauty of Instagram stories is that they don’t need to be ‘polished’ or edited in a certain way. It's a fun and easy way to showcase the authenticity of your brand and build a stronger relationship with your followers.
